An Inspiring Home Renovation Story: The Morrow House {Part 1}

You may remember this home's charming exterior (pictured at the end of this post) from Season 5, Episode 1 of Fixer Upper. Joanna Gaines commented on the house, "I feel like a dog with a T-bone steak, I am like please give ME the T-bone steak!" She wanted to get hold of this house. However, the first-time home buyers on the episode, who were shown house hunting with the Gaines', selected a different home to suit their needs.

We don't often get to see what became of the other homes.

But today, I'm excited to share with you what became of this historic home, thanks to its visionary owner, Amy, and decades of dreams. When I first saw pictures of the home on Instagram, I was compelled to find out more about it. This house is not only stunning, but it has got soulThe story of how it came to be does not disappoint. Enjoy...

Farmhouse Style Home Office Makeover

It's official. I have completed one monthly home improvement task that I had written down in my 2018 planner: making over my home office area. Never mind that I had written it down as a "January" goal. ;)

Flowers on the Porch and French Market Baskets...

Hi Friends ~ I hope you're enjoying the week and had a nice Valentine's Day.

Valentines Day is always a happy morning for me, decorating the breakfast table and putting out little surprises for our three sons to remind them how much they are loved. This year though, had a slightly different feel as the boys literally hobbled down to the table. Two boys have (small) broken bones - one has to wear a big boot on his foot, and the other has a splint. The third son was on day three of a fever.

Mama said there'd be days like this...

This Weather is for the Birds... {Keeping Chickens and Ducks}

We'd just gotten home on Sunday, and our youngest (8) could hardly ditch his church clothes, for a pair of shorts, fast enough. You see, it was February and sunny in Seattle... something to be celebrated! Never mind it was 44 degrees (and a winter coat would soon round off his "snow day on top, beach day on bottom" look).

And then to add to the seasonal confusion, all the leaves on the ground may lead you to believe it is fall. We're a little behind on fall clean-up. Truthfully, it always takes us until spring with our little-by-little approach.

Still, the sun was shining and we felt so alive and free...

What Does This Windmill, Rolling Cart, and Olive Bucket Have In Common?

Did you guess what the windmill, rolling cart, and olive bucket have in common?

They are all old, with obvious signs of wear.

Are you drawn to timeworn treasures like I am? If you are, you probably agree that there's something comforting about these one-of-a-kind, imperfect finds from the past. They've got character and soul, and inspire creative backdrops for living. Use them as intended, or repurpose them in an unexpected way. Make them pop against more modern finishes, or blend them with other vintage decor.
