Two Ideas for Spring Farmhouse Flower Arrangements...

I walked out our front door this morning is search of blooms, not entirely sure what I'd find. I spotted these beautiful pink tulips under our tall maple tree, and cut a few flowering branches that line the gravel driveway. I tucked in some sprigs of rosemary and lavender because a good fragrance never hurt anyone. Unless you're allergic. Which come to think of it, explains my sore throat and watery eyes. Still worth it.

Happy Spring from our Home to Yours...

Hi Friends ~ Just stopping in to say hi and share a couple of pictures, which show that spring is finally starting to show up here in the Pacific Northwest. (I was starting to wonder...)

You know the saying, "April showers bring May flowers?" If there's truth to that, we're expecting a floral wonderland

It hasn't been the typical Seattle drizzle - it's been a downpour.

The other day I was driving our boys, and there was so much water on the highway. Plus, it was coming down in buckets. For a moment, I felt like I was driving a boat, not a car.

Ah, Seattle... You don't need to try so hard. You've already earned the title of Emerald City.

It's definitely green here!

The Start of Yard Sale Season {A Few Things I'm on the Lookout For}

The weather is getting better (in most places) and soon we'll be seeing yard sale signs on every corner. I thought I'd share a few things that, if the price is right, I would never pass up!

Beautiful Things to See and Fun Things To Do in the San Francisco Bay Area and Napa Valley...

Today I thought I'd take a little departure from the usual home posts, and share some pictures from our road trip down to Northern California (from Seattle) last week. I wanted to share some beautiful things we saw, as well as suggest some fun things to do in the San Francisco Bay area in case you have a chance to visit. (The gorgeous gate pictured above belongs to the Stone House in the historic district of Sonoma.)

I grew up in Walnut Creek, California, which is about 30 minutes from San Francisco, and 40 minutes from Napa Valley. Walnut Creek is near and dear to my heart, and the backdrop to so many childhood memories. I'm not the only one who has grown up... Walnut Creek now has amazing shopping and lots of great restaurants. If you're in the area, you'll want to check out the huge Anthropologie (this location also features Terrain).

We decided to stay in Napa on this trip because it was going to be a little warmer there than on the coast - and we are sun-starved at home in Seattle this time of year.

Happy Easter!

My dad used to travel to Eastern Europe where he'd teach at Bible schools and speak at churches. He would bring us back these beautiful hand-crafted eggs, and tell us about the people he'd met and the things God did.

Burlap Carrots DIY {Spring Farmhouse Mantel Decor}

Hi Friends ~ Have you ever been out shopping and you see something and think...
That doesn't look too complicated. I bet I could make that...?

Me too. In fact, that's what happened when I was out shopping last week with my mom and sister. We spotted some cute (factory-made) burlap carrots. I loved all the texture and the neutral, unexpected take on carrots.

A few days later, I played a little game of memory with myself. Where did I see those leftover styrofoam cones? Garage, in a half-unpacked art bag. Burlap sack? Laundry room cupboard. Glue gun? Dining room drawer. The only thing I needed to buy was the raffia. So the price was right for this mini DIY. ;)
